Long time no post but regardless some more Photoshop work two dr who ideas were too late for a comp online, so here they are, the first based on a random 13th incarnation with a strangely de-aged Richard Harriss. The other a yearbook style photo, with Nicolas Cage as the 11th Doctor. BBC have some copyrights I’m sure to mention!

The last photo is of in idea that Hugh Laurie plays the slightly older James Bond, based on Sebastian Faulk’s “The Devil May Care” (Bond was late 40’s early 50’s in the book.

LONG TIME NO POST (winter photos)

The recent spate of Artic Blast weather had left some snow around and about, so we took a few photos to help us laugh at the lack of decent central heating. A particularly cruel bunch of lads (but very cool at the same time) played a mean trick on drivers locally by placing the largest lump of snow in the middle of the road possible. Not a particularly artistic photo at the end of the post but certainly amusing.

I thought I would take some photos, all be they snap style of the gallery, as loads of people have got in touch asking as to the lay out. It has been amazing to have some positive feedback about my first exhibition, so I would like to thank everyone for their efforts particularly the gallery team who mange to mix artistic temperament with superb telephone manner!
The other artists and photogrpahers on display are equally happy with the exposure gallery team, who have dealt with photography and art equally.

Everything seems fine and the exhibition is running up until the second week in January.

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has visited the gallery and is endeavouring to love the work and keep art alive. All are always welcome and the exhibition is running for several weeks and looks to be one of the most popular run in East Anglia.

Well what a lovely day we all had!

Well firstly a massive thanks to everyone that turned up on the doorstep and looked around; mulled wine in hand and home cooked xmas tree shortbread in mouth. The night was great and the best thing about all of the event was the chance to network and talk about photography and art. The exhibition is running from as we speak until the middle of Jan 09 and the some of the artists will be in residence to discuss their work with all of the visitors.

Well its been ages since my last check in, ear injury not helping, I just have included some random photos, that I have enjoyed taking a in a variety of situations. The big exhibition is going ahead on the 10^th of December and running for six weeks, so anyone in the UK wanting to go to the opening occasion let me know ASAP!

I will check in as soon as I can and I hope that all is well in the work with every regular reader, and I can but apologise for the delay but I will be in touch again shortly!

Crazy kids!

All those in and around tonight feel free to check out Crème de la Crème at Zing, back taking photos tonight for them with some serious thumping tunes. Loving the live work but back on track next week for serious photo editing for Gary (he loves his boats you know) as well as official show (at last) opening in December! I never realised how hard it is have your work exhibited!

As for my show if anyone wants to visit the exhibition please contact ASAP as we are looking forward to having you all come down. Champagne reception and biscuits (probably pastries!!!!!!) The life of the freelance photographer is never quiet, and one day soon that 30megapixel camera will be mine (is there one?) A few more party photo’s to keep you happy and see you all tonight. Remember call for guest list (or email actually!)

Here I tried to use a coulour tone that captured L's retro stylings, this Guy really does take his job seriously....(he is a mixologist i guess - and he' DJ's so a mixologist in all terms of the word really) top notch beverages with fresh fruit. All good

ZING CORPORATE WORK (nice tunes)

For those that want a challenge I can promise that working live is one of the most scary things (certainly the most difficult and potentially the most rewarding however) . Its very hard to keep ones artistic integrity with taking photos at corporate events. I never wanted to be the sort of photographer that was there to weddings, parties, 21^st’s etc, but I thoroughly enjoyed my work with the guys at the exclusive Zing Wine Bar last night, and may even consider some corporate work in the future. Particualry if its as high end as this!

It was requested that I came down and did their photography work (the aforementioned Scary Corporate Gig). I agreed, but when you are working for someone else and they hope to use your work, it is not the same as setting up artistic photo shoots with scouting and recon involved. You turn up shoot the shots and hope that lighting and everything else was correct for you. My advice is very simple, and that is do what you think is best. Stop thinking as Yoda would say erm do or do not there is no try… (Has the lack of sleep really made me quote yoda?…..nevermind)

I was lucky enough to get some top notch shots, and as well as that have a fantastic crowd about, who were so chuffed to be seeing the legendary DJ Nicky Holloway (Old Kent Road famous, and Master mixer himself, Ibiza king etc ) I must admit part of the thrill for me was having the chance to see one of this DJ’s rare sets. Top notch.

So a couple of shots here for you, but remember that the majority are with the boys at Zing and if you are ever in the UK feel free to visit them…Love and Peace Newman

HDR CHRISTCURCH PARK (war memorial)

Christchurch Park in Suffolk provides some amazing opps for HDR shots. The high Suffolk skyline and the war memorials seem to flash some important messages that I hope I have captured. Loving the HDR work, and am looking forward to more to follow soon,

Used a wide angle lens and captured both war memorials in one shot, I liked the way the first world war meets the secong, in such a picturesque setting.

The next is one of my favouritre photos. Was looking to capture the mansion from an unusual angle!

Finally for the mo the latest is just a solemn coloutred shot of a rain soaked memorial. Hopefully captured some beauty in the picture as the rain had just fallen and the moss seemed very well pretty I guess.

Well the thing is good, and the canvasses are now available, just a quick one here to let you know about, the 40 by 40 dragon, and the same print available in a massive 100cm by100cm installation doing well for pubs and clubs. The Buddha is a limited edition classic and looks to be poplar at A0 size.

Cornwall Beach Photo Shoot

Hi there one and all just got back from Cornwall and what a lovely time I had. Regardless of the copious pasty eating and the fishing (caught a massive mackerel - not hard apparently but still looked good), was brilliant to relax with all and take some photos. Inspired by the people at HDR you know who you are I managed to take some bad boy photos, and I look forward to finalising them over the coming months.

All is well in the world and keep up the good work, please comment and chat as always, thanks for the positive comment on the bliog and the redesign and thanks to those who have championed the redesign thank you as well.

Morning all

Started the day with some lovely editing work and I was very well "chuffed" with the results in all. The first two are some picture postcard style work from Pinn Mill. Anyone on the East Anglian peninsular will know the place, and any photographer will tell you of the wonder the coast line and rivers allow you to have.

Never get bored, and the rising tides allow you to get an indiual shot each time the sea goes in and out! the first one above was edited for colour and tone and of course the crop to change the focus of the eye. the one blow is edited for tone and I wanted it to have a slightly different feel to the other boat edit.

And finally we have an interesting portrait taken by "Mrs G" all in all it works wonders with the tones and the light, and in respect to G's wandering forest ways ythe colours were used in an effort to make to picture slightly more etherial!

EDITING (other people niceness)

Often a good source of fun can be the editing phase of photos, a friend of mine asked me to edit some of his digital photography, and I managed to remember the joy of crop, rotate, and colour matching! Regarding the changes I was quite happy and my mate should hopefully be to. It helps that you take a good photo in the first place, and I think my friend G does. There is a brief natter on each one, and some notes on the changes made.

The boat was originally an excellent photo but had too much movement on either side of the frame, so a crop and a colour edit to show the blues more. Pushed the pallette as far as it would go yet left the picture looking natural.

The frame is nice and long and highlights the boat, a simple crop and colour edit (to black and white) to highlight the change in mood.

Heavy colour editing and a widescreen favoured view, lovely simple retro boat and the simplicity of the picture was needed to keep the viewer lost in the scene.

The legend that is my mate alone on a bridge, interesting edit as the picture was nice in the first place, cropped the picture and rotated so the base line of the bridge is completely horizontal t0 us, thus makeing the whole scen more interesting with the juxtaposition and tone of the bridge. Also removed colour and highlighted certain tones.

I'm a strong believer that colour confuses industrail shots, and takes away from the intricacy of what you are going for. some crop work and highlighting of tone as well as complete colour removal to highlight the reflection.

Wanted to give the picture an etheral quality that wasn't quite there in the original - Through no fault of the photographer but a rare lens flare that wasn't advantageous. The trick with this photo was to edit and keep it looking natural as possible. Achieved this I believe (some might not though!) and love the clouds have an almost cartoon feel. Like this one, and manged to obtain original clarity looks amazing on as an A2 Print. (Remember I reduce resolutions only for Blogging - all of the prints on the site are available up to A1)Finally the Millenium Wheel taken from a jaunty angle - editied for colour removal - crop, angle, and smokey glaze! Dear All,

Long time posting thanks to those that have been in touch and looked forward to new things. Also thanks to all who have stayed in touch via the film blog, which still goes from strength to strength! Regardless here are some photos undertaken for a local store that tried to capture the spirit of the store. Originally the project was to be a an installation, so the results of the brief are on the blog here!

Above we have that Foggy vibe to bring out the features on both the animal and the red clothing of the owner, and then a wonderful smiley child and her dog, liked the nature of the composition, the background just fades away

And then this one is fantastic, the dog in question is bling and the picture captures exactly what the RSPCA is about, love the picture very much, the dog looked at the camera brecause of the sound that the camera made when it was focusing.

Loved what the event stood for and would love anyone to contact if they need photos for any other charity events.

Long time no speak for all the crazy kids out there who support me and my work. Thanks for all the messages over the new year, and I will continue to do some shoots and take those important people out for drinks! I hope xmas was enjoyed and the new year is fairing fantastically.

Anyway the great news is that my work has been accepted into a gallery as of February 2008! More details nearer the time for all involved, but in March I should have an open gallery evening for those interested in what I do. First step to greater things one hopes.

Its been a fantastic last six months and I look forward to making this year even greater.
